If a fire breaks out in a building where lithium batteries are stored in a DENIOS safety cabinet, the fire brigade will have at least 90 minutes to evacuate people in case of fire and an escalation of the fire due to ignition or explosion of lithium batteries in the enclosed cabinet can be avoided. For this purpose, the cabinets have the Type 90 classification according to EN 14470-1 for external fire resistance.
If there is a fire inside a DENIOS safety cabinet due to defective lithium batteries, the product will also withstand the same. Through continuous optimization, a fire resistance of the closed cabinet body (from inside to outside) of 90 minutes was achieved and confirmed by an additional fire test based on EN 1363-1. The SafeStore-Pro and SmartStore models are also equipped with a high-quality aerosol-based fire suppression system, which provides additional valuable time for protective measures in the event of a malfunction.
Based on the proven technology of our hazardous substance cabinets, a powerful system was developed with a view to the special hazard potential of storing lithium batteries. With double-sided fire protection, the SafeStore fulfills the increased requirements that in particular, property insurers place on the storage of lithium batteries.
Two tried and tested sizes with three to six storage levels provide tailored capacity for smaller and larger amounts of medium-power batteries. Height-adjustable heavy duty grid floors (180 kg load capacity) provide the necessary flexibility. A tested, liquid-tight spill tray (powder-coated sheet steel) is used to absorb any leaking sparks from burning batteries.
In addition to double-sided fire protection, the SafeStore Pro features high-quality surveillance technology and an additional 3-level warning / fire suppression system, offering added safety.
The warning system can be connected to a permanently occupied building control system where trained personnel will be alerted at the very first signs of the onset of fire (temperature rise or smoke) and can initiate the necessary measures as quickly as possible. An aerosol-based fire suppression system, which is triggered automatically at an interior temperature of over 70 ° C, provides additional time savings.
SmartStore: Safe Charging
The risk of fire increases if lithium batteries are charged. Our engineers were aware of the increased fire risk involved in charging processes, so the SmartStore model was developed especially for charging lithium batteries
In addition to double-sided fire protection, fire suppression and sensor technology, the SmartStore has an additional technical ventilation to prevent heat build-up inside the cabinet. For convenient loading processes, we have integrated a charging station into each storage level. Smoke and temperature sensors provide continuous status monitoring of the safety cabinet. When the temperature rises or smoke develops in the interior, a 3-stage safety system activates the fire suppression and warning messages.
The SafeStore-Pro and SmartStore models have an additional fire suppression system as well as high-quality sensor technology, which ensures that malfunctions are detected reliably and in good time via a 3-stage safety system.
