Test rooms for lithium-ion energy storage research and development
For more than 30 years, ads-tec GmbH, headquartered in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, has been developing and producing robust IT systems for industrial use as well as complex automation solutions. As a partner and technology supplier in the field of battery management systems for lithium-ion energy storage, ads-tec is active in an essential future project of electromobility.
Challenge and task
For research work in the field of lithium-ion energy storage systems, a safe test room had to be realised. In this area, the legislator only provides vague specifications or guidelines. Safety thinking is writ large at ads-tec GmbH with "safety first", which was reflected in a comprehensive hazard analysis.
The Solution
In close coordination with ads-tec, DENIOS engineers developed a solution that was precisely tailored to the company's needs and ensured maximum security. A broad spectrum of possible hazards was discussed, for which there were no blanket answers. F 90 fire protection (also for T90, G90) with approval from the DIBt in Berlin was one of the minimum requirements. The test room with an area of 30 m² meets all fire protection requirements. ATEX conformity is also guaranteed, as are the requirements for water protection. In addition, the collection tray was equipped with an electrically conductive PE insert tray. To make personal protection even safer, a G90 window was included in the T90 entrance door. In addition to the test room, another F90 fire protection system was built as a storage facility for lithium-ion batteries.

Efficient use of space and the greatest possible safety were decisive for the choice of fire protection storage. ads-tec GmbH got both with the fire protection containers from DENIOS AG. The DENIOS "plug and store" design, the in-house construction and the modern production at the main site in Bad Oeynhausen as well as the interaction of the specialist departments of both companies guaranteed a rapid commissioning. Thus, an active contribution to environmental protection and the protection of employees could be made.
