Battery storage systems
Storing energy – safely: The complete system, consisting of modern battery storage technology and safety containers, guarantees optimum protection in accordance with water and fire safety regulations.
Battery storage systems with lithium-ion technology make an important contribution to the energy transition. However, the technology also requires conscious management of the risk of overloading (‘thermal runaway’) – ideally in the form of a safety or fire protection concept. The safety container ensures that the battery storage technology is safely enclosed by means of an integrated spill pallet and measures such as fire protection, extinguishing systems and temperature regulation. This protects both the technology and the environment from potential hazards. At DENIOS, you can choose between safety containers with integrated battery storage technology or safety containers for enclosing your own battery technology.
POWER SAFE
The walk-in POWER SAFE with certified fire protection (REI 90 / REI 120) offers a separate fire compartment indoors or outdoors.
POWER STORE
The POWER STORE battery storage system is equipped with comprehensive safety features and is suitable for outdoor use.
Own battery technology housed in a safety container
Already have the battery technology but not yet a suitable safety container? We offer you the right container for a safe overall system.
Maximum safety for your battery storage systems
Why is the combination of modern battery storage technology and safety containers crucial?
The combination of modern battery storage technology and safety containers in a complete system is essential in order to:
- Containing fires – Lithium-ion batteries can overheat. A fire-resistant enclosure reduces the risk of fire spreading.
- Minimise explosion risk – controlled discharge of released gases in the event of thermal runaway through technical ventilation and pressure relief.
- To meet security requirements – taking into account the specifications of various institutions and countries, such as the BVES guidelines, PGS 37.1 and the VdS guidelines.
- Effectively prevent or mitigate external influences – including environmental influences, mechanical damage, external fires or flying sparks, and unauthorised access.
How does the safety container contribute to optimum protection?
The safety container provides comprehensive protection by controlling risks such as fires, explosions and gas releases. The following safety features ensure protection in the event of an emergency:
- Fire protection – fire-resistant construction (e.g. F90), fire-retardant materials
- Pressure relief and technical ventilation – prevents the accumulation of hazardous gases to prevent health hazards and explosions
- Fire suppression – semi-permanent or automatic extinguishing systems for thermal runaway situations
- Spill pallets – prevent electrolytes or contaminated extinguishing water from entering the environment
What official and insurance requirements must be met when installing industrial battery storage systems?
The installation of industrial battery storage systems is generally subject to strict building regulations and approval requirements. Depending on the region/local authority, installation location (industrial area, water protection zone, critical infrastructure, etc.) and type of building, different minimum requirements may apply (e.g. distance from buildings and other fire loads). Timely coordination with authorities and property insurers, as well as consideration of safety and fire protection concepts, facilitate approval and prevent delays or costly retrofits. Operators should find out about the specific requirements for their location at an early stage and, if necessary, consult experts in building law, fire protection and technical safety.
