Pallet Racking

While safe handling of hazardous substances is a major part of good work safety, how they are stored is just as important. Poorly stored drums can be dangerous, and if damage occurs to the drums and contents escape, then there can be risks of injury and environmental damage. The best way to protect against this is with effective storage, and good-quality pallet racking is an ideal way to do this.

Pallet racking at DENIOS UK

The pallet racks at DENIOS have a shelf frame made from galvanised steel with powder-coated trusses. By combining units, creating a drum storage to suit your premises is a straightforward task. With different-sized containers requiring storage in many places, pallet racking is not a one-size-fits-all system, so the pallet racks at DENIOS UK have heights adjustable in increments of 50mm, making this a system that is as versatile as it is effective. Galvanised push-through protection ensures that the drum pallet rack is always secure.

Where to use pallet racks

The need to safely store hazardous substances is a common requirement in a vast number of industries. These include pharmaceuticals, agriculture and manufacturing to name but a few. Pallet racks will be useful wherever there is a need to securely store containers. DENIOS UK has a large selection of pallet racking, and the options that you choose will vary depending on the type of containers that you need to store. One thing to consider is the size of the containers. A Combi Rack 3 k4-I is ideal for storing IBCs, while a Combi rack 2 S16-I is designed for 205-litre drums.

It is also necessary to consider the contents of those containers. Underneath the pallet racks are sumps or spill pallets, which are designed to prevent any leaks or drips damaging the premises or becoming a potential environmental or fire risk. Items such as the Combi Rack 3 K4-I with galvanised spill pallet has a spill pallet for collecting substances that are flammable or hazardous to water. If you are looking for pallet racking for hazardous materials that are aggressive in nature, such as acids or alkalis, then you will require one with a polyethylene sump, such as the Pallet Racking PRP 27.37.

Using pallet racking safely

The safe, well-organised storage of chemical drums will do a great deal to facilitate the smooth operation of your premises. The pallet racking from DENIOS UK is well designed and comes with a four-year guarantee, but it should be checked, particularly after adjusting height levels, to make sure that it is put together securely. You should also provide additional protection for those working with the hazardous substances by using effective personal protective equipment and other products designed for the safe handling of hazardous materials.
