Force Gauges

Most people are familiar with force gauges in their classic form: the spring balance. This consists of an elastic spring housed in a small tube. At the end of the spring is a clasp for securing the objects to be weighed. The spring extends when an object is attached to it, and a scale on the outside of the tube then indicates the weight in g or kg. However, for the spring balance to be used as a force gauge, it should also indicate the force in newtons. Nowadays, of course, there is also a wide range of digital force gauges available, which are characterised not only by higher maximum load capacities but also by integrated data storage or data interfaces. This means you do not need to make a separate note of your measurement results; instead, you can save them directly on the device and later transfer them to your computer.
